Hardware MIDI Companion for Android & Windows

GrooVoid is a hardware-oriented MIDI companion for creating, sequencing and experimenting with music alongside external hardware.

It is designed to sit next to your instruments rather than replace a DAW.

The project started as a simple visual MIDI transport for a tablet sitting next to my hardware setup. It gradually grew into a tool for generating patterns, creating melodies, sequencing MIDI and experimenting with ideas directly with hardware.

Composer

The Composer is a step-based melodic composition tool for creating and experimenting with MIDI patterns.

Visualizer

The Visualizer is the original part of GrooVoid.

It receives MIDI Clock, Start and Stop messages and provides real-time visual feedback of tempo and musical position.

The idea

The basic idea behind GrooVoid is simple:

Generate → Edit → Mutate → Loop → Send to hardware

It is not intended to replace a DAW. It is designed to be an external companion for hardware-based music setups.

Status

v0.2.0 Alpha

GrooVoid is still actively developed and tested with real hardware.

This is an Alpha release, so bugs and compatibility issues may still occur, especially with different MIDI interfaces, Android devices and hardware configurations.
